Doctor accused of surgical penis enlargement mistake

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Californian Doctor, Dr Gary Rheinschild faces possible disciplinary action and even a reprimand of his licence following complaints that he botched up 3 penile enlargement surgeries in the years leading to 2005.

According to the California Medical Board, the urologist, aged 75, is accused of causing gross misconduct in his treatment of these 3 men and of continuing to perform surgery despite revealing signs of cognitive impairment.
Explaining his case, Rheinschild’s lead attorney claims that these allegations against his eye sight are false, as a Judge has already proclaimed that Dr Rheinschild is not visually impaired. Continuing, Rheinschild attorney says these accusations are due to competitors looking to ruin his reputation, and nothing more.

Are their accusations real?

Penis enlargement surgeries are well known for holding an element of risk, primarily causing in penile shortening and deformity, and it could be agreed that this is what occurred here.

As Rheinschild’s attorney revealed to the press: ‘…like any cosmetic procedure, there is always somebody who doesn’t like the results. That is part of the risks and benefits that you go through.’

Penile enhancement surgery is not acknowledged as being safe or effective by the Medical Association, and unfortunately for Rheinschild the New York Times are agreeing that his penis reconstructions often ended negatively.

In the records provided by the American Urological Association, the 3 defendants announced the following.

Accusation No. 1: Client sought out Dr Rheinschild for penis enlargement surgery in 2003, and at the time expressed his concerns that heseemed a bit struggling with his memory. Described by his medical staff as being ‘eccentric’ but the best surgeon in his niche, the man underwent precedure only to later discover that his penis was deformed. Despite asking for further surgery, Rheinschild declined to help.

Client Two: 21 year old patient approaches Dr Rheinschild in early 2005. In his witness statementhe noticed that Rheinschild’s hand often quivered and his short term memory was poor. Five weeks after the $8,000 surgery, the skin flap applied to his penis burst open and his penis began to dramatically curve and shorten. After repetitively seeking out a meeting with Dr Rheinschild – who refused – the patient decided to goelsewhere to undergo cosmeticsurgery on his member.

Case Three: Following penile enlargement surgery implemented by Dr Rheinschild, patient no. 3 moaned about of pain and a large scar after skin was taken surgically removed from his lower backto create the skin flap. Accompanying this scarring the patient noticed that his skin was bruising. Despite repetitively trying to reach Dr Rheinschild continually, his messages were not returned until he threatened to take him to the Medical Board.

Will Rheinschild lose his cosmetic licence?

Since 2005, Rheinschild is noted for having performed hundreds of cosmetic surgeries without errors occurring and as a consequence, a Judge has announced against an immediate cancellation of his licence.

Further disciplinary proceedings are scheduled to occur in after Christmas.
